I commented on Mashable on what would happen if CSI can be watched on youtube entirely. It's already a reality NOW and I think it would bring about the following:
1. Start of death spiral of Cable Companies
2. Local (Country-Specific) TV Stations start to market their shows to an international audience.
3. Following #2, the TV stations would have to get international brands as ad partners.
4. Replacement of the TV with an internet connected (DSL) widescreen PC with a large monitorm hence..
5. Consumers realizing that they'll need a 2nd PC (or monitor for tech savvy people) for watching shows, hence..*
6. There will be an increase in PC Monitor / PC sales, specially those with flat giant screens, hence...
7. Decrease in expensive TV set sales.
8. Continuing from #2, other channels like CW and NBC may follow and youtube's now existing channels will be challenged by the old guard (ironic or unfortunate? ask Hot For Words )
9. Decrease in the use of Bit Torrent or places like SideReel to watch online shows.
10. Finally(?) a pipe dream: That the BBC would now open it's contents internationally - due to the pressure of Youtube'd International TV.
*This is funny because in my dreamboard-created early this year, there's a man in front of 2 flat screen monitors. Apparently, that's the trend in HOMES today.
Now, let me hear your comments on this. Good news? Are you in the TV industry? What do you think?
