1. Mastery of Marketing - you probably know "business minded" people who started by selling candies in school and renting out their comics to classmates. These people are now running their own physical stores and businesses.
You think it's because they're Chinese or have business minded parents.
I started off life with brown skin, employee parents and friends and yet I've learned more marketing than many people I've met - and I've met a lot of people.
How? I dug deep by googling internet interviews with the "marketing masters", free mp3s, free videos in their official websites, printed out their PDFs and mini-guides, purchased and read and re-read their books, joined their $1997 mentoring programs online.
You probably know someone who has "torrented" these interviews and audiobooks - so it's just there sitting in their hard disc. (Note: Torrenting or downloading massive amounts of commercial audiobooks and ebooks are still illegal, yes we're still waiting for the laws to change to recognize the internet)
But having the materials available isn't enough. You have to go through them with a passion reserved only for the front row fans of Justin Bieber. These young girls know his lyrics, has reviewed his dance steps from a concert last week (via Youtube) - so they also know what songs he's going to sing tonight - but they still scream their heads off when he finally takes the stage.
If you take that attitude, like I did, you'll be a marketing master in very little time. I also had tool I love to tell people about: the IPOD. Get one, fill it up with little music but lots of podcasts (internet radio programs in mp3 and video), audiobooks and interviews. I listen to them everytime my ears aren't doing anything. That means - when I'm not talking to anybody - the earphones or speakers are on - teaching me - marketing.
This single topic has lead me to see the world better - from a business stand point.
