This is a classic question. "How Do I Start?"

There are a few options - to be able to get assistance from me in starting a Virtual Career,

It's a combination of BASICS and SKILLS.

A. VIRTUAL CAREER BASICS (Pick 1-2)

Option 1. Get the Virtual Careers Book: http://virtualcareersbook.com/buy. Cost is about approx 400 pesos. This helps you understand everything.  For a free video to get you understanding stuff, go here: http://jhilario.com/tatlongvideo

Option 2. Download the Date With Freedom 2015 Video Course: http://jhilario.com/datewithfreedom. This is a recording of a live seminar. Why? If the book isn't enough for you, then maybe video and audio will help you.  People abroad should get this.

B. VIRTUAL CAREER SKILLS. (Pick 1)

Now a lot of people start with "No Experience".  So you have to be committed to change that.  I said committed. If you're just curious, then go get the book first or the free video above in Option 1.

Now, for this SKILLS section, make sure you have selected either Option 1 or Option 2 first before proceeding.  Selecting just the free video is not an option. I said you need to be committed. If you're just curious, check out all my free stuff below instead.

Option 3. Learn Various High-Income Skills in Instant Virtual Skills Live Course, if you're looking for Jomar's LIVE seminar, this is it -join this: http://jhilario.com/getinstantvirtualskills

Option 4: Learn How To Do Facebook Ads: http://jhilario.com/marvellousva202 Video Course.

Option 5: Jomar, I don't know what to pick, can I just attend your live seminar? Join this: http://jhilario.com/getinstantvirtualskills - make sure you have either Option 1 or Option 2 first.

Here above are your BEST CHOICES to earn in a few months a regular, monthly paying job online.

Linked in Year in Review visual browser is lacking in usability. Yes I
know it's a LABS feature, hence experimental.
Go to http://yir.linkedinlabs.com/ to see the people's profile photos
- of people who's declared a change for the year. Funny thing is -
you'll need to click over to their profile to see what's up -leaving
the Visual Browser - w/c ain't fun.

Better do to plurk style, where they just mouse over the images and
some snippets of the major thing appears or even the latest status
update from the Linked In user would be useful.

Agree or disagree?

Linked In labs, think think what would people use this for?

Q: I am a real estate referrer now. I have posted in 3 online ads. Someone gave me a list of free online ads and it is so many.
I am asking for your suggestion. 1. Do I need first to sign up/register to all of those before hiring a VA to post for me? 2. How can I know which among them are visited often?
I have already created a script, but I know that online ads have different contents.

Carlo
A: VA will do the sign up for you. That's their job. You supply username and password that they will use plus rules you want to follow.

W/c one will be visited often? Among the sites you're going to list in (free online ads), you need to do a Google search FIRST, for example you're posting about 4 Door Apartment in Toronto, Google Apartment for Rent Toronto - the resulting free online ad websites that appear should be a priority instead of your list and they are:
1. Torontorentals.com

For example.

Unless your client wants you to go through the list first.

Question about Posting in Free Online ads and VA's role

Do you want to know how to do a brilliant social media campaign? Don't worry "social media campaign" means to use Facebook, Twitter etc to bring a message out into the world.  Look no further than your TV set, the show Chuck was almost cancelled last 2009 -- if not for the efforts spearheaded by Givememyremote, the TV blog.

Look at the images in in this post to get an idea how intense their desire was to keep chuck on the air.

Renew Chuck:
1. Wallpapers
2. Twitter Backgrounds
3. Facebook Page
4. A Real "Print Me and Send" Postcard
5. People encouraging others to go to Subway (a show sponsor) to buy $5 footlongs.
6. The show's stars encouraging people to do #5 above.

Visit Givememyremote to see how it's done - for a historical perspective. Know this though, this is the same thing I did to promote my CCM Concerts of Jars of Clay, Reuben Morgan and Steven Curtis Chapman - in the age of Friendster, Multiply and Yahoogroups.

TV's Chuck was saved from being cancelled because of Social Media

Of course the commenters say "this action' can't be done anymore because it goes against Facebook's terms and conditions - w/c was modified after this popular promotion. They say ...but I see this happening almost every day even today - in facebook.  Great promotion idea, don't you think?

How Ikea used Facebook to promote a single store!

I just came back from my Tagaytay retreat planning about how to serve you better.  Plus I played golf and realized:

Golf isn't that hard, in fact it's fun. Yes, I played by very first 9 holes of golf and learned first hand how misconceptions of something we haven't tried can ruin the experience for us:

Misconceptions like:

1. It's too expensive.

Because of the hotel I was staying in, I didn't need a club membership so I spent P 950 (including tips) for a whole morning to "learn a new experience" to increase my creativity.  You spend more than that for your PSP, playstation and wii, am I not right? Plus if you total all the pirated DVDs your brother (not you) got, I'm sure it'll run in the thousands of pesos.

Plus note: I only brought myself, I didn't bring clubs, balls or any special shoes. I rented them all.

2. It's only for the rich.

It's only for those who want to do it.  It's actually enjoyable specially after the caddy (the person who assists the golfer) asked me "Are you sure this is your first time?" since I was able to make the ball fly instead of roll (which is the usual for first timers, she said).

So why did I play golf (alone) in the first place?

I was reading the "Artist's Way" - it's a required reading for those in the Show biz industry - because it helps people become more creative. One of the things in that book was to "do new things". So I did a new thing and now I have a different perspective when I see a golf course. I don't say "Pangmayaman lang yan". I say "I wish I can play golf now!". :)

See how a simple game can change the way you think?

3. People do it to make deals.  I didn't see any deal making in my short time there. What I did see are people wanting to hit a goal (the golf cup) using a ball and a different set of bats (clubs) - under the blazing sun!

Now why am I saying this golf story to you? Because it's when we try something good we know we want to try, but are afraid to - we experience a breakthrough. Isn't that something you're eagerly looking for?

Now I'm going to announce something that might be new to you. Oh you've heard of it before I'm sure but you haven't "tried it out".

Then I announce it, consider it with care.

It might be something you'll enjoy - for the rest of your life.

Stay tuned for it!

You're visual? Here are some photos from my golfing! Enjoy.

Q: How do I complete my profile without adding my pictures? Is it ok if I don’t register my real name is Odesk? Thank you so much.

Best regards,
Brian

A: You need to put a photo on Odesk, just not in your PDF resume. You can use a nickname or pen name if you wish to preserve your privacy. But payments to you (when the time comes) must be done in your real name. This won't matter to odesk, it will only be known by your client.

How do I complete my profile without adding my pictures?

Q: Marvin asks: Could you please share with me your insight on which photo gallery is better, Flickr? or photobucket?

The idea is to create parallel blogs, using images. I'm formulating a draft action plan for an existing VA client

A: Ditch flickr if you're going to use the images in ANOTHER website. Idea ang Photobucket if you want to use images in another site.

Use flickr if you want to BOAST about the images you create. Like in a photo gallery

Flickr vs Photobucket

Now, you too can Work From Home as a Virtual Assistant (VA) within months or weeks after attending the seminar (Manila, Cebu or Download it) below!
Depending on your skills, you can quit your day job quickly and
replace it with a work at home gig.

If you wish to come home and WORK FROM YOUR OWN HOME, then you've found what you're looking for.

For the past months, I've trained different kinds of employees --and helped them land online jobs that they can work from home --part time and full time. There's no waiting to change your mind from employee to entrepreneur, no need to read lots of books - just this one seminar - and the serious students immediately replaced their day job with a work at home "gig".

It's quickly from unemployment or underemployment to receiving minimum $250/month (P 10,000) to $700 (P 30,000) - per client - from your own home. We're not talking of "per project" here. It's a constant stream of income, just like an employee - without the negative traffic, bosses and office politics.

Do you like what you're seeing?

Then start by attending the VA (Virtual Assistant) seminar in Cebu, Manila or if you're far away, download the seminar.

A VA is your FASTEST way to going HOME and working and still earn in $$ (any currency really). I'm sure it will change your family life. More time for kids, spouse, the house! No office politics, no traffic, no uniforms (hey, I'm typing this with my pajamas on.). No storms, no wet umbrellas, no stranded in 7-11, no bad taxi experiences, no joining the office party when you're utterly bored with it all and hoping to win in the raffle is your only joy.

When you're at home, you'll rediscover your real joys, your family. And your own time.

But are you qualified?

The skills you need basically is that you're very familiar with the INTERNET and computers. That's it. If you are not afraid to explore the internet, knowing that nothing will explode if you do so, then you can be a VA. No kidding.

This Virtual Assistant Seminar is the Initial Training for VAs:

a. You'll know the requirements so you can be considered a good "candidate" to be a VA (physical, mental, skills, etc)
b. Websites and Skills and Programs you need to study because you'll need them as a VA
c. You'll know exactly what I tell my VAs to do, so you'll know the how easy or complex it is.
d. How to communicate properly with your offsite client (this is the most critical skill and attitude as a VA).
e. How to negotiate or justify your "rate" (how much you'll receive or want to receive as VA).
f. What two buttons on the keyboard will become your best friend as a VA
g. The correct daily attitude towards your virtual client to ensure smooth work flow and happiness for both of you.
h. How to make a shiny and effective resume for VA employment.
i. Common misconceptions regarding VAs
j. Personal positive and negative realizations of existing VAs (people I've worked with)
k. How to cope with the eventual overwhelm if it happens (work load)
l. You'll find out how I started in this VA business (as a client and trainer)
m. At the end of the session you'll be given a long assignment.

Fulfill that assignment within TWO MONTHS of the training.

Note: Again this is NOT a technical course. If I discussed ALL programs in STEP BY STEP fashion, it will take more than a month non-stop. This is the introductory course that you can build on. If you can investigate how to use (for example, SKYPE) a program on your own, then you're going to be fine as a VA. However if you need more training --more training programs (session 2 and 3) are coming up.

No hiring guarantees, just training.
1. Yes, there's no guarantee that you'll be hired in the end. That's based on the needs of the employer and your attitudes and skills.
2. Yes, this is exactly like any other work opportunity the difference being, it separates the serious person with a curious person. Serious people will do the assignment, curious people will not. Serious people will get a gig in a few months time - this is according to my track record.
3. My role is to give you an edge over any other applicants and allow you to just be a VA to one employer and still be happily working at home -- while earning what you want.

Here's the graduates of a Virtual Assistant Seminar in Manila.

It's all kinds of people, rich and striving to be truly rich.
Parents, single moms.
They all want to work from home. :)

Here's another batch of the VA training seminar.
The person in the middle, explaining is ALREADY A VA,
but she wants to improve, know the tricks and tips into become a higher income VA.

Here's what she had to say:

"I attended Jomar Hilario's Virtual Assistant Seminar last December 21,2010 and I learned more than what I already know. The lessons he taught us was an eye opener for me. I found out that there are easy ways to become a successful Virtual Assistant using different techniques. Learned different tricks either to speed up or to enhance the presentation of a VA's work.

He helped me see that I could be somebody again. It didn't hit me at first but as we discussed and continued the conversation, the story of one of his VAs, who is now a VA Manager, opened new horizons, prompted the realization that I could be someone like her someday.

I have been a work at home mom for the past 2 years. I believe that Jomar Hilario can help me soar high as a Virtual Assistant. The way he conducted the seminar, with his simple and easy to understand examples, it would be an honor to be under his wings!

Congratulations, Sir Jomar Hilario!"
Eihdra Gatchalian, Las Pinas

"I attended Jomar's Virtual Assistant worshop last September 18, 2010. It opened my eyes to a new world I've never seen before and never thought of as possible: WORKING FROM HOME. Yes, this is what a stressed-out corporate 9 to 5 working mom like me needs. It's an answered prayer, a gift of getting the best of both worlds: to earn income + have more time for my family. It doesn't stop at the worshop. It starts by getting things done. I did the "assignment", created a blogsite about it (http://www.virtualmompreneur.blogspot.com) and worked on My Profile/Portfolio. From there, I started 'marketing' my skills and competencies to potential clients. And lo and behold! Last November, I was contracted by 2 US-based clients and they're paying me in US dollar$ ! All these for doing online work part-time, around 1 to 2 hours a day. I still have my day job, you know, but I'm able to manage well and earn good extra income. What more if I do it full-time!?! Well, that's what I plan to get on eventually, in the very near future. I always keep tabs of Jomar's online lessons, especially that of the Facebook marketing lessons. I applied lesson # 2 for one of my client's Facebook pages which I created, and guess what?! My client was so impressed that he gave me a bonus this month - that's extra $$ again!

I want to keep on learning, because I want to go on earning! I just availed of Jomar's Online Marketing Worshop. I want to learn how to unlock the potential of earning passive income and other online marketing tools that could enhance my skills.

Keep your dreams alive, and chase it...now! Cheers to a prosperous 2011!"

Aileen Cortez, Paranaque

My sister and I attended your VA seminar last Saturday.

I attended because I wanted to find ways of working from home.

I thought it was a very good orientation for someone like me who knew nothing about being a VA. It was good that the upside and downside of being a VA was discussed, as well as the potential situations a VA must deal with and how these must be handled. I certainly learned a lot in that afternoon and I appreciate that you answered all of our queries, especially since I asked plenty of questions. I also appreciate the "mind-set" stuff that you injected into the workshop. It was a truly enriching afternoon.

Marjorie

Hi everyone. I recently attended a Virtual Assistant Seminar conducted by Mr. Jomar Hilario. He's a really good at discussing what we should be doing and how we should be dong things as a Virtual Assistant. He also discussed the different kind of Virtual Assistants. It's an "everything you need to know to get started" kind of seminar.

There were a lot of attendees and all are positive thinkers. Just what I needed to surround myself with.

Upon parting, Mr. Jomar Hilario gave us an assignment to help us get started on our pursuit of working at home.

I'll keep you updated on the assignment as it progresses.
All in all, I learned a lot in the seminar and had fun at the same time.
I highly recommend you attend Mr. Jomar Hilario's next Virtual Assistant seminar.

Here's what a student of the Downloadable VA Seminar has to say:

1. I took your V.A. online training while on my vacation(in Dubai). I initially opened an oDesk account already just in case. But I never got anything.

2. After returning from vacation, I immediately revamped and filled up my oDesk(including the VA blog that i hadn't submitted to you). After about week (more or less) I got a gig doing SEO, calling to the US, doing some graphics for souvenir items, editing a website and campaigning for a cause in general (my client is very active in civil rights, etc).

3. I kept(and still do) applying for other gigs dahil pumalya ako sa negotiation ko dito sa 1st gig and I thought I wanna earn more and see what else is in store...

4. Then, just last night (about 4 days after I got my first gig), when I opened my oDesk, I was surprised to see that I got hired again. The weird thing was, I wasn't interviewed. Nakita ko lang na 3 messages ko sa oDesk inbox ko(that was sent to me 2 hours back pa). 1st was to "welcome" me, the next 2 emails where about what to do na sa jobs. yun lang. Then payment verified naman sya kaya ayus lang.

Ang nakakagulat pa was, the whole day ko hinintay kung may notice man lang na interview or kung "declined". Muntik na akong hindi magbukas ulet ng oDesk kagabi (that was close to midnight na) dahil akala ko wala ng magnnotice.

Actually, 2 days before this second gig, I had an "interview" (pero sa oDesk lang) with another client who wanted to do SEO but I was late na in replying kaya siguro nakahanap na sya ng ibang mahihire. That prompted me to open my oDesk from time to time talaga just in case... and I was right.

I think I got the gig primarily because of the VA blog, supported by my main blog and the carbonmade portfolio site.

Buy I only attracted non-specialized employers gawa ng hindi pa convincing enough ang portfolio ng graphics ko.

Kaya naman, I sure will invest in premium sites lalo na't I'm back to work.
Good morning po. I want to thank you sa LAHAT. I now have 2 V.A. part time jobs... amazing!

1. BONUS FOR ALL: GET YOUR CHANCE TO ASK QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS TO A REAL VIRTUAL ASSISTANT

All participants of this VA event will be part of the Online Call with a Real Virtual Assistant and Jomar Hilario on a Few Weeks after at 8:00 PM to 9:30 PM as a followup so all your questions can be answered.

2. BONUS FOR ALL: JOIN THE GRADUATES OF THE MANILA, CEBU AND DOWNLOADABLE SEMINAR IN THE PRIVATE FACEBOOK GROUP.

Be challenged, inspired and get referrals and job openings from fellow participants - even people you haven't met in this exclusive group.

Hint: If you're looking for a landline, fax or cellphone number to talk to someone about this, it's already definite: You can't be a Virtual Assistant - so don't attend this seminar. A VA is very, extremely comfortable with the Internet and doesn't "prefer" to use analog technologies like landlines to conduct business or ask questions.

Cebu How to Work From Home as a Virtual Assistant Seminar

Q: I want to hire a VA but have limited budget. I have 2 blogs that need promotion, I'll do the writing, they'll do the promotion.

How many names can the VA get for me?

:) how can i guarantee the returns? how is it measurable??

Camille.

A: Opps incorrect mindset. VA people do not guarantee names and marketing is always long term dear.

Maybe you can afford P 2500 a month for a week's work per month and do it for 12 months?

Yes you can measure.
But guarantee---that's a long list.
How?

1. How well trained are you in copywriting? Any succesful experiences? Not the VA, you.

2. How sure are you that the product is actually attractive to the market?

3. Are you sure the market WANTS (not need) the product?

4. Have you taken steps to understand the market's wants and the mind of your market before they take the buying decision?
(and more)

TECHNICAL
5. Do you have google analytics installed in your blogs?
6. Do you know how to read analytics?
7. Is there an opt-in list in your blog? Mailchimp or Feedburner or 1shoppingcart?
8. Is your multi-message sales message ready? Is it more than 7 messages?
9. Do you have your testimonials all posted in the blog/sales page?

MORE!
10. What is your ideal conversion rate? Visitors vs buyers?
11. What is the basis of this rate?
12. Do you have risk reversal statements ? (money back)
13. Are your product photos oozing with beauty and "buy me" power?
14. Have you set up a facebook page for these? These are more powerful TODAY than blogs.
15. Do you know how to read Facebook Stats?

Saya no? You need to know what you're doing and must be willing to experiment if you're not sure --when you get a VA. VAs make experiments faster --but if you're only willing to get the sale --it's better to just do it yourself first.

As you know I teach people to become Internet Marketers and to become Virtual Assistants. Just ask and I'll show you how.

Q: I want to hire a VA but have limited budget.

I watched this in silence while my family is sleeping beside me. I too wanted that bedroom with a living room. And if you're reading this and you already have a bedroom with a living room, or a 4500 sq meter LA house - then Thank God that you're so blessed.

It's said that the Filipino in Manny is coming out great as he's focused on his family more than his possessions. So unlike some people I know who's so focused on possessions once they become rich - that they've lost track of who loves them and who they love.

Jim Rohn said "We have the obligation to build a financial wall around our family that nothing can get through". I add - We have the obligation to build a financial wall that nothing can get through and a wall of love around the family at the same time.

Let that wall builder be you.

Download the latest version of Chrome (http://chrome.google.com) - windows or mac and go to Preferences/Tools/Options (w/c ever), just look at the screenshot below:

Click on "Enable INSTANT for Faster Searching and Browsing".

Then Go and type anything in the address bar or Google Chrome -like the examples below.

You'll see that Google works even if you haven't pressed ENTER yet.

Conclusion: We can all be more efficient if we use these shortcuts in our daily lives. For example, up to now, Safari doesn't allow you to search using the address bar, now here's Chrome doing something more useful to the address bar (instant search!). That's one of the main reasons why I do not use Safari anymore.

Hope that Virtual Assistants and other internet power users enjoy using the new Google Instant for Chrome and here's to more "Instant" products and revisions.
